Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the closing game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a huge pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest bettors around the world. While gambling on online poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He regularly participates in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I believe Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to play at the table with the min buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be one of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amt.. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world at times. The greatest players in the world might be players you have will not have heard about. Gus can be found betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in big stakes Omaha and Holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in cash games?
