Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the final poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest players around the world. While playing internet poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen frequently buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I believe Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full dollar value. I believe television can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest players in the world might just be players you have never heard about. Gus can be found participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in money games?
