Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve closing game in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest gamblers around the world. While competing in internet poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest players anywhere in the world might be players you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen competing in online poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in big stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in cash rounds?
