Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is commonly seen as one of the most complicated but favored poker games. It is a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, aims for action from every level of players. This is the primary reason why a once obscure variation, has expanded in acceptance so amazingly.

Omaha 8 or better begins like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are given out to every player. A sequence of wagering ensues where players can bet, check, or fold. 3 cards are handed out, this is referred to as the flop. Another sequence of betting happens. Once all the players have either called or folded, a further card is flipped on the turn. a further sequence of wagering follows at which point the river card is revealed. The gamblers will need to make the best high and low 5 card hands based on the board and hole cards.

This is the point where a number of players can get confused. Contrasted to Hold’em, where the board can be every player’s hand, in Omaha hi/lo the player has to utilize precisely 3 cards on the board, and precisely two cards from their hand. Not a single card more, no less. Unlike normal Omaha, there are two ways a pot may be won: the "high hand" or the "low hand."

A high hand is just what it sounds like. It’s the strongest hand out of every player’s, it doesn’t matter if it is a straight, flush, full house, etc. It is the identical notion in nearly all poker games.

The lower hand is more difficult, but certainly free’s up the play. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the worst hand that might be made, with the lowest value being A-2-3-4-5. Because straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand. The low hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and lower. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there is no low hand available, the higher hand takes the whole pot.

While it seems complicated at first, following a few hands you will be able to get the fundamental nuances of the game simply enough. Since you have people betting for the low and wagering for the high, and seeing as so many cards are in play, Omaha hi/low provides an overwhelming assortment of betting possibilities and owing to the fact that you have several players battling for the high hand, and several trying for the low. If you prefer a game with a lot of outs and actions, it’s not a waste of your time to play Omaha/8.
