Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to make it to the last poker table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best enthusiasts in the world. While gambling on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He often plays in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the best poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amt.. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world might just be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be found competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in high stakes Omaha and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
