Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to make it to the final table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest bettors in the world. While betting on web poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amount. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The best poker players anywhere in the world may be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen participating in online poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes Omaha and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in money games?
