One of the biggest difficulties that I encountered when I first got into Hold’em was figuring out what cards to bet on in what Location. Usually I would have burned on a hand that I thought was a great starting hand. Come to find out they were very good hands, just not in the placement I was wagering them from. Here is a pretty basic list of what kind of hands to wager on and what position it is suitable to wager on them in. Bear in mind this chart doesn’t factor in raises or suits.

Wager on From Any Placement

Ace, Ace KK Queen, Queen Jack, Jack Ten, Ten Nine, Nine 88 Ace, King Ace, Queen Ace, Jack Ace, Ten KQ KJ

Wager on Mid to Late Placement

Six, Six Five, Five King, Ten Queen, Jack Queen, Ten Jack Ten

Wager on in Late Placement Only

A9 A8 A7 K9 King, Eight Queen, Nine Jack, Nine J8 T9 Ten, Eight 98 97

Should you be just beginning to play poker, playing these hands at the recommended positions will help you often be in a safe placement before the flop. As your game progresses, you will be able to add additional hands to this list and know how to wager on them in specific situations. In case you are just starting to bet on cards, I would advise betting for nickels and dimes at house or for free at a web-based poker site. Poker websites are nice because you receive to see many much more hands per hour than you do at household. A number of goods sites to wager on for free are UltimateBet and PartyPoker.com.
