NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn anything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from others destroy his goal of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
Phil began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
